What are worship services like at SCM?
Each of our services consists of singing hymns, reading Scripture, praying (both aloud and silently), and a sermon from
either our pastor or a guest preacher. You are welcome to come and check it out for yourself!
How long is the service?
Each service lasts between 45 minutes and an hour.
What should I wear?
Whatever you feel most comfortable in. Some come in jeans and a shirt, others in a dress or a suit. Come as you are.
We're not here to judge.
What should I do when the collection plate is passed?
Here at Shared Covenant Ministries, we celebrate the opportunities to give back to our church and communities a bit of
that which we have received--in time, tithe, and talents (that is, we look for chances to volunteer our time, money,
and skills). As a guest, please do not feel compelled to contribute to the offering. If you do feel so led, feel free to do so!
Is it ok for my small children to attend?
Of course! Families of all ages, shapes, and sizes are welcome at the SCM.
When is Communion observed?
Our communion schedule varies based on our Pastor's site-schedule. Usually we celebrate Communion at
each site once a month in order to remember Jesus' last meal with his disciples, to celebrate his resurrection, and unite
ourselves with the universal Church. In the United Methodist Church, communion is open to anyone and everyone,
regardless of denominational affiliation, church membership, or belief. All are welcome to experience the grace offered
to us through Jesus Christ.
Which site should I attend?
Most people attend the site that is closest to home or starts at the most convenient time for you and your family. You
are welcome to come to any and all that works best for you!
Where can I park?
At Emmanuel UMC, you are welcome to park in the spaces in front of the church, in the parking lot behind the
Fellowship Hall, or along Hubbard St.
At Juneau UMC, you are welcome to park in the parking lot of the Hartford Savings Bank or along East Oak Grove St.
At Lowell UMC, you are welcome to park in front of the church or along Cross St.
How do I get connected with others in SCM?
Great question! You are always welcome to join a Sunday School class, our Tuesday Bible Study. Our United Methodist
Women and United Methodist Men groups are great ways to meet members of the community while having some fun.
In addition, feel free to speak with Pastor Renae after service or contact us for more information about upcoming events
and opportunities to meet with others outside of our service times.
How do I become a member of SCM?
